2011 Dolomite Trip |
ITALY 2012
Ciao!!!
Based on our great trips last year and my excitement in introducing
others to cycling training and travel, I am pleased to
announce my cycling venture called IdleFast.
IdleFast is excited to rollout our
cycling adventure in the spectacular Dolomite’s in Northern Italy scheduled for
the summer of 2012. In order to provide the best experience possible we have
used the feedback from our guests last year to help enhance next year’s trip,
some of the changes next year will be:
- Trip cost to
be fully inclusive including wine at dinner
- Reduction of
travel time in vehicles
- Travel time
to and from the airport will be reduced from about 4 hours to
approximately 2 hours by flying into Verona rather than Milan
- Daily commuting
in vehicles will be reduced in half by having two base camps with 4 days
at the first camp and 3 days at the second camp
- Increased
relaxation and off time activities
- More
comprehensive and personal training programs provided
- Comprehensive
nightly next day ride review
- Bike clinics
during trip to include: bike maintenance, training, riding techniques etc.
- Discounted
weekly offseason Computrainer classes available
Whether
you ride like the pros or are a weekend warrior, our goal is to provide you
with a “Day in the Life” experience of what it’s like to compete on some of the
classic mountain passes of the Giro. Your experience on these passes will be
enhanced by our personalized training programs which shall focus on climbing and
descending skills prior to your trip. Not only will you experience the classic
climbs, but you will also learn the history and watch footage from these
classics prior to your rides. Eddy Merckx, Fausto Coppi, Lance Armstrong, Marco
Pantani, and Andy Hampsten left their marks in the mountains of Northern Italy
forever. It is our hope these mountains will leave their mark on you for years
to come.
Located
in the center of the Dolomite’s are the beautiful and welcoming towns of Merano
and Corvara. Both are surrounded by some of the most spectacular and dramatic
mountain scenery in the world. To allow you to focus on riding, recovery,
relaxing and taking in the overall experience, we have dramatically reduced driving
times to and from starting and finish points. During the trip we will change lodging
locations one time as we will be dividing the trip into two segments. Your 7
day adventure begins with your flight arriving in Verona, Italy, on Tuesday morning
where you will be met by one of our personal guides. After a 2 hour drive into
the heart of the mountains, you will arrive in the town of Corvara, famous for
the Sella Ronda Challenge (http://www.cycling-challenge.com/sella-ronda/). Corvara will serve as our base
camp for the first 4 days of our trip. The
warm and beautiful Hotel Le Perla
gladly welcomes us. After enjoying some of the most spectacular mountain rides
in the world we then move or base camp to the quaint town of Merano. Here we
will lodge at the stunning Villa Tivoli
where you will experience one of the most hospitable stays you will encounter. With your first class accommodations taken care of, let the riding
begin!
Located
in unique and relatively flat valleys, both Corvara and Merano allow for easy
riding with access to endless ways to access some of the most classic climbs in
the world. Upon arrival, we will begin with an easy spin to get your legs
acquainted to the terrain. Afterwards, rest easy knowing you will have the
support of a well-seasoned and knowledgeable professional staff there to
encourage, motivate and enhance your experience. No need to carry extra food,
clothing or gear for you will be fully supported by a “sag-wagon” as well as our
guides riding along with you.
